The main dwellings in refugee camps are tents. The main source of heating is kerosene stove. It is not
unusual to have fire broke out due to mishandling of kerosene. In our recent visit to a refugee camp, we found
out that 4 fires occurred in the past 2 months, leading to death of 2 children.
HIS Foundation, therefore, started
a new project to teach the refugees to convert their tents into houses using the Super Adobe method. The main
building material is soil available locally. This project is supported by the refugee camp authority. A model
home was recently built. It is hope that the refugees will make use of this opportunity to improve their home.
