Orthopedic Rehabilitation Services:

Surgeries can correct many deformities and thus cure or minimize disabilities.  However, to attain maximum potential of bodily functions, rehabilitation is needed.  This is particularly true for chronic conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and other neuromuscular conditions.

HIS Foundation orthopedic services always have physical therapists serving on the teams.  They provide preoperative education and postoperative training for patients to reach optimal bodily functions after surgeries.  Sometimes our physical therapists make home visits to access the home environment and provide the necessary training specific for individual patients.

Many patients need brace for short-term or long-term use.  Orthotic and prosthesis service is an important part of the rehabilitation services.  We frequently have orthotist serving on the team and many of the braces and prosthesis are made locally.
